About me

Hi, my name is Paula and I am the artist, creator, website builder, stall holder and general dogsbody behind Pebble & Ink. I live in the far west of the UK in a small, mid-terrace miner’s cottage about 5 miles from Lands End in Cornwall.

My jewellery designs are inspired by the charm and simplicity of folk art, a fascination that I can trace back to my childhood in the 1970s. I’m particularly drawn to the bold forms and enchanting motifs of Eastern European folk art, where patterns tell a story and symbols carry deep meaning. My love of folklore and mythology inspires me, leading me to explore themes from nature and stories passed down through generations. Each piece is hand-illustrated in black and white, blending the playful essence of folk art with a hint of kawaii whimsy. Recurring motifs like birds, trees, flowers, fungi, foxes, and celestial elements—moons, stars, rain clouds, potion bottles, and books—create a world where simplicity meets storytelling. My aim is to bring joy to the wearer, capturing a playful, light-hearted charm that feels timeless yet delightfully unexpected.
